Daytime photos from my eye-openerĀ  trip to China where air pollution is REALLY bad.

The World Health Organization released a report this week and said that 7 million people die annually of air pollution. While most deaths occur in other countries, California isn’t immune from bad air elsewhere. We can attribute at least one unhealthy air day per year to the arrival of pollution and particulates from other countries reaching our shores. Add to that the driest year on record with little rain to clean the atmosphere, and we’re looking at worse air yet!

The American Lung Association released a report listing the most polluted cities in the U.S. for 2013, and eight California cities ranked among the 10 most polluted in the country. That’s actually consistent with previous reports.

Top 10:
1. Bakersfield
2. Merced
3. Fresno
4. Los Angeles
5. Hanford
6. Modesto
7. Visalia
8. Pittsburg, PA
9. El Centro
10. Cincinnati, OH
