California’s homeless population continues to grow, making up more than one-third of the nation’s chronically homeless. American Family Housing is serving 1,000 Thanksgiving meals to those in need at Westminster Community Center this year, but works daily to end the cycle of homelessness.

Between Thanksgiving and Christmas Californians typically reach into their pockets trying to help others enjoy a warm meal and creature comforts that many of us take for granted. One volunteer at a soup kitchen has asked people to quit volunteering at soup kitchens on Thanksgiving Day. She complained that it has become a circus of too many volunteers and politicians dropping in for photo opportunities. Though this may be true, there are free Thanksgiving Dinners throughout the state made possible through generous donations and volunteers.  Here are some places you may find a free Thanksgiving meal.
