There are many fantastic festivals taking place throughout California this holiday season but there’s none quite like December Nights, a free two-day festival in amazing Balboa Park!  The 1,200 acre park built 100 years ago includes the world-class San Diego Zoo, Globe Theatre, fountains, gardens, around 15 museums, restaurants, and one of the world’s largest pipe organs. On December 4 at 4 p.m. resident organist  Dr. Carol Williams plays beloved holiday music on the magnificent 4,530-pipe instrument as the sun begins to set on a perfect San Diego day. Her concert is just the start of the two-day festival filled with entertainment from around the world. Concerts, exhibits, hands-on holiday activities, international foods, and even a Santa Lucia Swedish procession offer non-stop entertainment at a variety of park locations. Sure, Kingsburg, Calif. has a Santa Lucia festival. And of course you can visit many cities in the state for celebrations to ring in the holidays. But to put in perspective how big December Nights is, there are 150 performances, 35 entertainment venues, and 350,000 people in attendance. San Diego really knows how to throw a party.
