California Precipitation Weekend

PRECIPITATION WEEKEND EVENTS & FESTIVALS – Some Californians don’t handle rain very well, especially in Southern California where they forget what that wet stuff is about. If you live in or are visiting that region,  always check before going to an outdoor event when a chance of rain is in the forecast. Rain usually cancels.

  • At the Color Fun Fest 5K this weekend at Cal Expo in Sacramento it doesn’t really matter if it’s rain or shine. The colors are dripping off you, anyway.
  • If you head up the mountain to Tahoe, the weekend predictions include snow showers for two celebrations — The Snow Fest at North Lake Tahoe and Persian Snow Festival at South Lake Tahoe. If it snows and you’re a skier it’s going to be packed but you know the routine. Leave home in the dark and be on the slopes at opening time.
  • Polar Plunge in Santa Cruz is touch & go. If there’s a chance of getting sick from ocean run-off, they’ll call it! Check before going.
  • Pour me a wet one – at four beer festivals. Three appear to be indoors so if it rains, no big deal.
  • At Long Beach Comic Expo held indoors at the Convention Center you’ll see some pretty slick characters. Rain just adds to challenge of being a comic book super hero–like Superman.
  • Vallejo Gem & Mineral Society Show, February 28-March 1, 201 at  Solano County Fairgrounds doesn’t mind the rain much. Rain not only helps gems build character, it also is used in the process of smoothing the stones.
