Imperial Valley Mid-Winter Fair & Fiesta (californiamidwinterfair.com) Feb. 27-Mar. 8, 2015 includes the Redneck Rodeo Competition with truck pull, tiny tractor race for kids, and an obstacle course with bales of hay. Having grown up in REAL Redneck Country (pick any small town in the Midwest or South and you may still find a few rednecks hanging around,) I was amused that California, the epi-center of COOL, pokes fun at the redneck concept. It sounds like a blast at the annual fair which includes livestock competitions, bands performing, a carnival, midway, Something Ridiculous Juggling Show and my favorite, the Turkey Stampede! Admission is fairly cheap–around 6 bucks. Make sure you save time to see “The Good, The Band and The Ugly Bug Show!” For those looking for a fair closer to home…stay tuned for more fairs coming to California this spring and summer.
