Spring is in Bloom!

  • HUNTINGTON BEACH: Arbor Day blossomed with smiles, rooster crows, and a curious giant tortoise, whose head came out its shell to see school kids fertilizing and watering eight recently-planted fruit trees at Golden View School in Huntington Beach.
  • CALIFORNIA COAST: Grunion Are Running! Here’s the schedule for those of you who want to try your hand snagging slippery silversides caught spawning in the sand!
  • SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO: On Mar.19 the Return of the Swallows arrives at the Mission SJC.
  • VOLCANO: Daffodil Hill is said to be open now.
  • COSTA MESA:  Musink Tattoo & Music Festival includes artists who can “ink” flower designs on your skin, for a price. Mar.17-19, 2017
  • BRIDGEPORT: Wildflower Walks have begun at South Yuba River State Park Mar.11-May14, Saturdays & Sundays
  • DESERT BLOOMS: So many people are visiting Anza-Borrego (parks.ca.gov), the state’s largest park, that officials on Mar.14 warned of traffic jams and urged flower-lovers to bring plenty of water to avoid dehydration in the hot, dry weather expected this week. Blooms are spotted throughout the desert regions from Joshua Tree NP to Death Valley NP (nps.gov).
