Millions of Californians are having fun on this glorious, sunny St. Patrick’s Day March 17, 2017. From San Diego’s Gaslamp shamROCK festival to the streets, neighborhood blocks and even alleys of San Francisco where parties at Irish Bank, Chef Sullivan’s, Taverna Aventine, Farley’s and The Royal Exchange, take place, people are dressed in green and drinking green drinks. One of the most popular beverages is the Irish Car Bomb, but beer remains the mainstay with Guinness enjoying its best sales of the year.

To accommodate the millions of revelers it’s ‘all hands on deck’ for chefs, bartenders, food servers, fiddlers, bagpipers, bouncers, sober drivers and community clubs such as the Seal Beach Lions Club Designated Drivers Program, giving people safe rides home on St. Patricks Day between 4 p.m. and Midnight.

TIPS FOR AVOIDING A HANGOVER

  • Double up on the vitamins. Inflammation and oxidative stress are key culprits in hangovers, says a mobile medical company treating intoxicated patients on-site.
  • Eat a meal containing carbs, protein, and fat before you drink. Skip salads in favor of burgers.
  • Take a bottle of Gatorade instead of water with you to replace electrolytes, the nutrients you lose when you drink.
  • If you buy dark colored liquors such as whiskey that contains more toxins & impurities than vodka and gin, splurge on quality products that may have less impurities.
