MARYSVILLE, CALIF. — The flood basin of the Feather and Yuba rivers just north of Marysville offers temporary wetland habitat for thousands of Tundra Swans, huge flocks of White-faced Ibis, geese, ducks, shorebirds, hawks, and bald eagles. Each November visitors aren’t limited to swans and waterfowl, however. Human tourists also flock to Yuba County–to watch birds. The free California Swan Festival held November 7-9, 2014 (caswanfestival.com) includes more than 15 fee-based guided tours to see hundreds of thousands of waterfowl along the Pacific Flyway, one of the most significant rest-over stops for migrating and wintering birds. Produced by the Yuba Sutter Chamber of Commerce, this event is the highlight of the year offering fascinating, compelling and original narrations from experts in the field. There’s even a photo tour to help enhance your picture taking skills! Guests are not required to attend the the tours and seminars in which space is limited. They are free to take self-guided tours, see vendors, artwork and speak with knowledgeable docents and experts from California Fish & Wildlife department.   Read more…>
