Lyn Semeta (pictured left with artist Bill Anderson) is an attorney, Huntington Beach City Council member and busy mother of two daughters. She’s recently become an award-winning painter who uses art as an escape. “When I’m painting, I’m totally focused on my work—being creative,” she said. Jim and Priscilla Koury of La Habra Heights love carved wood, collecting items and furniture in their travels around the globe. So when a tree fell in their yard Jim imagined what the tree could become. “At first I saw a snake, then a long-necked dinosaur, as well as an alligator crawling up the recumbent tree trunk.” He found artist Ruben DeLaCruz (right photo) who was willing to transform Jim’s vision into reality, using a chainsaw, grinder and sculpting tools.
