  • This weekend on May 16 & 17, 2015 the Bug Fair at Natural History Museum (nhm.org) of Los Angeles County includes over 70 exhibitors showcasing bugs, bug memorabilia, and all sorts of interesting bug stuff. General admission is $12 ($17 for admission to the Butterfly Pavilion, as well.)
  • In the Bay Area there’s much fun to be had at the 28th Rattlesnake Rendezvous at Camp Ohlone where an intrepid band of primitives embark on a weekend of Stone-Age living skills such as fire-starting, flint-knapping, cordage, open-fire cooking and ethnobotany.  Hazards such firepits, water and snakes come courtesy of nature. See: ebparks.org/activities for upcoming adventures.
  • Visalia’s Mother & Son Campout in Kiwanis Park (ci.visalia.ca.us) on May 16 is bound to include a few bugs to see and explore.
