Cayucos Pier is located on Cayucos State Beach in San Luis Obispo County, approx. 23 miles south of Hearst Castle. The town is a beach charmer–from hotels with ocean views to the quaint downtown with several restaurants, antiques stores, and other shops, it’s not very big but it has a lot of heart. The photo above shows a vista overlooking the Cayucos Pier, beach and town. But if you turned to right from this vantage point you’d notice the Morro Rock, 8 miles south. The old-wooden Cayucos Pier needs some TLC so a citizen’s fundraising group is trying to round up $2 million needed to get the fishing pier back to ship-shape condition again. Though not the first pier or wharf in this location, there’s a 139 year history of piers here and when you visit you’ll understand why it’s so important to have one!
