Charmlee Wilderness Park Features Awesome Hikes in Malibu

Up in the Santa Monica mountains overlooking Malibu’s treasured beaches is Charmlee Wilderness Park (malibucity.org), offering a variety of free guided hikes. The park is located in the only east-west trending mountains in North America known as Transverse Ranges. This is the only mountain range in the world that divides a city (Los Angeles) into.

Full Moon Hikes include meadows, fields, and scenery while hiking in the moonlight. Look for nocturnal animals and enjoy the park surroundings as the moonlight glistens off of the Pacific Ocean. Bring a flashlight and dress warmly. March 27, Apr. 25, May 25, June 22, 2013 at 7 p.m.

Wildflower Hikes with a naturalist includes lessons in identifying and learning about natives in bloom. April 6, 7, 14, 21, May 4 & 5, 2013 at 10 a.m.

Photo Hike with a professional photographer teaches you how to capture the park’s unique beauty with any type of camera. Flowers will be in bloom and meadow grass will be bathed in the perfect light to catch landscapes and close-ups. All ages welcome, April 20, 2013, 2 p.m.
