California’s Christmas Tree tradition goes back thousands of years to the birth of the now giant Sequoias and the Nation’s Christmas Tree. In Southern California there’s a Christmas Tree tradition that’s only 92 years young, but Christmas Tree Lane in Altadena is more visible, easier to access, and by Saturday, December 8, 2012, should be lit! The countless volunteers who have come each weekend since October to string lights should be finished so the public can delight in the spectacular display in a grove of Deodar trees listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Exit the 210 (Foothill) Freeway in Altadena and head for Christmas Tree Lane. The December lighting includes a 2 p.m. street festival with arts, crafts and food truck gourmet. Around 6 the trees are lit.
