ALTADENA, CALIF. — The annual lighting of Christmas Tree Lane takes place the 2nd weekend in December and this beloved tradition is an old one. It began nearly 100 years ago. Talk about a walk down memory lane! The beauty of this California and National Historic Landmark with its deodar cedar trees that have fought and so far survived drought, pest infestations and nearby wildfires, is its 100% volunteer effort produced by neighbors for the public to see, free.
OXNARD, CALIF. — Christmas Tree Lane in Oxnard’s Historic Homes District also begins on the same weekend and runs through Christmas. The public can park and walk or drive through the neighborhood where homes are lit by residents, providing an old-fashioned experience. It is also free to see.
