Coaster may not be on your radar, but international travelers have embraced the train option when visiting San Diego and there’s a compelling reason you may want to do so if you’re heading for the San Diego County Fair. North County Transit District and the San Diego County Fair have teamed up to offer Fair Tripper combo tickets for $15 providing roundtrip travel on COASTER trains, SPRINTER light rail, and BREEZE buses, and admission to the Fair – a 40% savings on general admission and full COASTER fare. (Normal fair admission is $14, $8 senior.) Free shuttles transport passengers to and from the Solana Beach COASTER station – the station closest to the fairgrounds – to the Fair. Available every day the Fair is open through July 6, the offer is a great option as fair parking costs money and often requires taking a shuttle bus, anyway.
