Come and Get It at the Orange County Fair

When the bell rings and and the gates open on the annual Orange County Fair, it’s not the cows saying  ‘mooooove over,’ it’s the herd of humans eager to see 3,000 pound oxen, pet cute little chicks, listen to chick rocker band Almost Anywhere, sample BBQ turkey legs & fried Oreos,  and have an udderly good time tasting, sniffing, drinking, listening, dancing and spending lots of mooo-la.

On opening day (pictured) guests milked it for what it’s worth when they got free parking and free admission to launch an annual tradition that seems like its been around longer than any cow or person on the planet (OC Fair’s roots are from 1890). In 2013, the urban jungle ignites with the theme, “Come and get it.” For those unfamiliar with farm life, ringing the cowbell signals the cattle that it’s time to head back for serious feeding time, and alerts farmers and ranch hands that dinner’s on the table. The daily farm routine brings it back home to millions of Californians who love the fair and its magic memories. There’s a fair everywhere in California… see the list! Orange County Fair is open July 12-August 11, 2013, see ocfair.com
