Yosemite Beaches for a Slightly Different Beach Vacation

Californians and visitors from other states and countries get hyped on the California Dreaming concept that typically includes bikini-clad girls and tanned surfing boys playing all day at Pacific Ocean beaches. But there are many beaches that are slightly warmer than coastal destinations during the summer months, higher in elevation, and breath-taking in beauty. Mountain lovers should check out the Sierras for beach vacations in several majestic locations–Cathedral Beach, Yellow Pine Beach and Sentinel Beach in the Yosemite Valley. Located along the Merced River that runs through the mountains, these beaches are great for sunbathing, swimming, river rafting, picnics and hiking. You can’t surf here, however.   If you want to investigate Yosemite National Park see: nps.gov/yose
