Costa Mesa Snoopy House Returns to City Hall

Published on: November 19, 2014

This story plays like a tale right out of the pages of a Charlie Brown Christmas. A man who spent decades creating Peanuts characters and scenes at his Costa Mesa residence for the public to enjoy each holiday season, lost his home during the economic downturn and had to dispose of his priceless collection. A near 50-year tradition for Costa Mesans and 80,000 annual visitors was going to disappear. But the city with a heart did something extraordinary. Officials seized the opportunity to become the stewards of the fantasy Christmas holiday collection with interactive elements and motorized displays.  With ample parking and an enhanced light show that illuminates City Hall to music, the Snoopy House  at City Hall has become a new annual tradition. Costa Mesa City Hall is a few miles from Orange County Airport and directly across the street from the Orange County Fairgrounds. The event is free.
