Creepy Crawly Spiders
Coarsegold Tarantula Festival happens each year around Halloween!
Several years ago my worst Halloween spider experience happened just days before October 31 when I woke up from a night’s sleep and felt my eye hurting. Over the course of the next few days the eyelid began to swell, then droop over my eye with white stuff oozing out. I went to a doctor hoping to get to the bottom of the problem which was affecting my ability to see. An intern looked at me, asked a few questions and said, “Spider bite. You need antibiotics.” Below isn’t a picture of me, but it shows how my eye looked.
I couldn’t wear a mask for Halloween but my eye started a few conversations with people wanting to know what I was supposed to be.
This week a big spider dropped from the ceiling onto my lap, possibly attracted by the computer screen. I jumped up and tried to find the fast-moving monster but he simply vanished. Oh yeah, it’s nearly Halloween. He’ll be back to get me.
