California — World’s Largest Halloween

California is home to the world’s biggest Halloween. We have over 500 municipal Halloween festivals for kids and families, 10 major theme park Halloween haunts, 15 zoo boos and celebrations, dozens of graveyard tours, pumpkin plunges & splashes, pumpkin patches, corn mazes, nearly a dozen pumpkin festivals, countless haunted houses, trunk or treats, scarecrow festivals and the biggest Halloween party in the world, West Hollywood’s Carnaval. More than half a million people come to the one night, annual celebration hosted by the city.

Double the fun this year on October 29, 2016 when San Diego’s Monster Bash (fee and 21+) fills the Gaslamp Quarter, formerly a red light district. Two days later on October 31 West Hollywood Carnaval (free, all ages) is staged over a one-mile stretch of Santa Monica Boulevard/Historic Route 66, once the gathering place for mobsters like Bugsy Segal, and later the counterculture.  Because these Southern California mega-events land on different nights in 2016, party animals can do them both.
