BIG BEAR LAKE, CALIF. — Mother Nature helped boost business last weekend, providing fresh snow, according to Big Bear Lake Resort Association Board President Joyce Reed, who said the media attention and manhunt for Christopher Dorner in the area wasn’t hurting business. 18 inches of fresh snow on Friday, February 8, 2013 plus several more inches Sunday night (Feb.10) brought 15% more visitors to the San Bernardino mountain ski resort in 2013 as compared to 2012.

A $1 million reward has been issued in the manhunt for a triple-murder suspect whose burned truck was discovered  in Big Bear last week. More than 200 SWAT officers and federal agents searched empty cabins, mountain roads and remote mountain slopes looking for the fugitive, but that effort has been scaled back as tourists continue to flock to “the hill” for great skiing and winter fun.  “The main topic of discussion from our visitors this past weekend was the excellent snow conditions,” said Joyce Reed.
