Every day is hat day at the county fair. Visitors wear hats to stay cool in 100-degree heat this week. They also wear them to keep from getting sunburned. Here are California fair hats:

  • If you are showing your prize pig at the Butte County Fair 4-H competition (Aug. 27-30, 2015) it’s essential that you wear your green club cap with the emblem signifying Head, Heart, Hands, and Health.
  • At Humboldt County Fair in Ferndale (Aug. 20-30) you’ll definitely want to wear a hat at the annual Ladies Hat Day at the Races Aug. 29, 2015. Free admission to the races with formal hat wear and a chance to win $100 for Most Glamorous Hat, Funniest or Most Outrageous, Best Male Hat, Best Hat and Coordinating Outfit, and Best Couple or Group. Info:  (707) 786-9511
  • At Modoc District Fair (Aug. 27-30) the cowboy hat is necessary gear for competing in Saddle Bronc, Horse Show, Rancher’s Day and to ride in the Parade.
  • At Antelope Valley Fair (August 21-30) be among the elite, members-only corps of supporters of the White Hat Society. For approx. $1500, you not only help the fair, but you get your very own white hat!
