Do you know it’s possible to hit four fantastic Southern California cemeteries in a day to see intriguing things where the rich, famous and forgotten are buried?

  • Forest Lawn Memorial Park — Hollywood Hills (top photo) includes the largest historical mosaic in the United States standing 162-foot long and 28-foot high. Birth of Liberty is composed of 10 million pieces of Venetian glass.
  • Hollywood Forever Cemetery (bottom photos) behind Paramount Studios is the final resting place for Johnny Ramone (legendary guitarist for the Ramones), Carl Alfalfa Switzer (Little Rascals), Mickey Rooney, Rudolph Valentino, Douglas Fairbanks, Peter Lorre, Marian Davies, Bugsy Segal and many more.
  • Forest Lawn Memorial Park — Glendale is the only place in the world where Michelangelo’s greatest statuary works can be seen together in one location. It’s the final resting place for Michael Jackson, Clark Gable, Carole Lombard and dozens of celebrities.
  • Evergreen Cemetery (1877) is the oldest nondenominational cementery in Los Angeles. Each year 1,500 of the city’s homeless or unidentified persons are cremated and buried in a single grave, not far from tombstones of well known developers, oil tycoons and land owners such as Jotham Bixby (Long Beach).
