Although the National Park Service (NPS) boasts that less than one-third of America’s 401 national parks charge an entrance fee, California’s favorites are among those that DO charge fees. But on Monday, August 25, 2014 they are free (other fees such as reservations, camping, tours and concessions are not included. )
Celebrate the National Parks 98th birthday with free admission to some of the nation’s favorite national parks in California: Yosemite, Joshua Tree, Sequoia-Kings Canyon, Lassen Volcanic NP, Whiskeytown and Cabrillo National Monument. California has 26 national parks receiving an estimated 36 million visitors annually. Yosemite National Park, one of the nation’s most popular and most visited parks, charges $20 admission normally.
