The last chance in 2013 to enter the national parks in California free on Veteran’s Day Weekend November 9-11, 2013 is a unique window of opportunity for mini-vacations and getaways when the weather is superb between summer and winter! In the desert at Joshua Tree it’s like a rainbow-colored dream, while our friends at Mono County Tourism in the Sierras say it’s fabulous there, as well. The choice of things to do ranges from hiking and fishing, (last hurrah, anglers!) to skiing and snowboarding, (Mammoth Mountain is now OPEN!).  The Veteran’s Day weekend weather forecast is looking fine and all passes are OPEN including Tioga Pass/Hwy 120 through Yosemite, Hwy 108 over Sonora Pass, and Hwy 89 over Monitor Pass. Plus… Admission to Yosemite National Park this weekend is FREE in honor of Veteran’s Day.  See nps.gov
