All eyes are on Southern California’s famed beaches during Christmas when temperatures in this Mediterranean paradise unexpectedly hit 80 degrees. Tourists come to California to escape the cold during Christmas vacations, hardly knowing that it is actually a winter haven for snow skiing. In addition to Southern California’s San Bernardino mountain ski resorts — a mere two hour drive for 60% of the state’s population– Northern California features the spectacular 400-mile long Sierra Nevada mountains. Greeting several million guests in Mammoth Lakes, Lake Tahoe, Squaw Valley, Bear Valley and Yosemite, additional mountains ranges Klamath and Cascade also look forward to ski park crowds. California Snow (californiasnow.com) which represents  29 snow sports areas, recommends you plan ahead for Christmas by purchasing lift tickets and reserving ski rental equipment before you go. With this week’s new snow, passions run high and it’s going to be a sellout holiday in the mountains!
