Everybody’s gotta’ have a hat in California! Whether wearing a ski cap in Mammoth, a ball cap on the Pacific in your sailboat, or stepping out to make a fashion statement during a day at the races, hats are the rage. There was a time where hats were part of dressing up and going out for men & women both. And in some circles today, you’ll see the tradition carried on at California rodeos. In an Old West themed Fashion Show I photographed at The Autry Museum, I learned that women wore hats in the 1800s to cover their hair which didn’t get washed too often.
Who sells the most hats in California? Disneyland Resorts! In a single day their sales range from hundreds to thousands of wacky hats.
