Hollister, Calif., a city straddling the Central Coast and Central Valley enjoys a semi-rural setting, lots of space to roam and a pioneering spirit in which the concept of freedom is cherished. Its 35,000 residents don’t all agree on how freedom should be celebrated each 4th of July but the majority of merchants and city officials have come to a consensus that the 4th of July Hollister Rally should stay another year in 2015. Last year the city transformed into the epicenter of bike heaven, attracting over 100,000 motorcyclists on the 4th of July three day weekend. With a large park equipped to handle the crowds for camping, the event was deemed a success. Three bikers from one club were shot at a gas station by a rival after the event ended, but the event planner and mayor were quick to respond saying that the shooting was not part of the festival and could happen any time, any place. They defended the festival as a safe, entertaining and positive event that helped the local economy. If you’re interested in attending, this year it is called the Hollister Freedom Rally and like last year it’s free. If you want to become a vendor, they are still taking applications as of this posting, see: hollisterfreedomrally.com
