If you feel like you’re walking into a luxury castle with breath-taking beauty you’ve never seen, welcome to Filoli in Woodside, a San Mateo County attraction that opens each year for a nine-day holiday celebration with shopping, dining, musical entertainment and even Santa Claus for the kids. This year they’re calling it “Ice Fantasy”. The public is invited but you must purchase tickets… see filoli.org

Filoli was built nearly 100 years ago as the exclusive country home of Empire Mine magnate William Bowers Bourn and his wife. Completed in 1929, the property was sold and eventually became the Filoli Center, a 654-acre estate. This California State Historic Landmark listed on the National Registry of Historic Places includes a magnificent mansion and incredible gardens you must see to believe. They open up to the public each Spring when daffodils bloom and close each year with Fall’s changing colors
