In May Calaveras County Fair holds its celebrated Jumping Frog Jubilee. But you don’t have to wait three months. On President’s Day Weekend Kernville plays host to the much anticipated, annual Whiskey Flat Days, a rip-roaring good time complete with Frog Jumping Contests. Once called Whiskey Flat, the beautiful Kern County town at the south end of Sequoia National Forest enjoys outdoor camping, rafting, fishing and hiking, among its favorite sports.  But this weekend camping really takes center stage with a Wild West Encampment. If you go, say “howdy” to all the great folks at the Kernville Chamber of Commerce who work hard so you can play.

Reliving the spirit of the Old West, the festival includes:

  • Gold Panning
  • Wood Carving
  • Parade
  • Wild West Daze Rodeo
  • Epitaph
  • Costume & Whiskerino
  • Whiskey Flat Mayor Contest
  • Line Dancing
  • Blue Grass & Country Western Music
  • Gunfighter Skits
  • Melodramas
  • Kids Games, & much more
