Lake Tahoe Labor Day Fireworks, Sternwheeler Race

Voted most popular lake in the USA Today poll, where else will you find fireworks and a Sternwheeler Race on Labor Day Weekend  in California? If you head for the hills, here’s what’s going on in the Sierras at Lake Tahoe–get details on tahoesouth.com:

SEPTEMBER 1, 2012 The Great Lake Tahoe Sternwheeler Race (in photo).  This will be the 20th matchup in the “battle of the paddle” with the Dixie holding an 11-8 edge. Passengers can sign up for either boat, and during the race enjoy brunch.

SEPT. 2, 2012 – Labor Day Weekend Fireworks Extravaganza Sunday. This pyrotechnic exhibition explodes over Lake Tahoe after dusk and features a variety of patterns, shapes and designs.

SEPT. 1 – Sammy Hagar 4 Decades of Rock at the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harveys
One night, the whole Hagar history. With special guests Joe Satriani (Joe Satriani Band and Chickenfoot), Michael Anthony (Van Halen and Chickenfoot), Denny Carmassi (Montrose), Bill Church (Montrose), Vic Johnson (The Wabos), Mona (the Wabos) and Dave Lauser (The Wabos)

SEPT. 2 – Sample the Sierra.  A Farm to Fork Event Celebrating the Sierra Nevada Region
This fabulous food and wine tasting festival consists of 15 food booths, more than 20 artists and artisans, and a variety of live entertainment. The entire weekend is loaded with events that are fun for the whole family.
