2.4 million weddings are performed in the U.S. each year with the median age for first-time brides, 27, and grooms, 29 years. Eight years after you’re spent the average $28,500 on your wedding, pat yourself on the back if you are among the 59% who remain married–the average time for a first marriage to end in divorce is eight years. Weddings in the U.S. are an estimated $50+ billion industry involving apparel, salons, photographers, DJs, bands, wedding planners, venue rental fees, food, cake, limousines, flowers, wedding gifts, etc. About one-third of couples pay for the entire wedding, another third share the costs with their folks, and another third are paid by the parents alone.
