George Lucas road in Modesto’s American Graffiti parade in June 2013, returning to his birthplace that inspired his love of cars and a highly-successful film which has become the theme of the annual American Graffiti Festival (americangraffitifestival.com) held June 6-8, 2014.
Lucas was born and raised in the City of Modesto, graduating from Thomas Downey High School in 1962. He co-wrote and directed one of the top-100 movies of all time with a nostalgic look back at cars, music and teenage years inspired by Modesto events.
