With a few exceptions there’s a beer festival pretty much every Saturday and Sunday in California. Pictured is this Memorial Weekend Bakersfield Craft Beer Festival (bakersfieldcraftbeerfestival.com) on May 24, 2014. Other weekend hits of the hops include San Luis Obispo’s California Festival of Beers at Madonna Inn Meadows (SOLD OUT)  and San Francisco’s International Beer Festival at Fort Mason,  sfbeerfest.com . Beer festivals are increasing in quantity and size. Once you have a California Beer Festival  it’s fairly likely you’ll bring it back again, and with each year’s return, the number of brewery participants grows, as well. Here are some reasons why:

  • In California, craft breweries have nearly doubled in four years to 430 from 224 in 2010.
  • The average brewery requires an investment of $1 million to $1.5 million for initial production.
  • 50% of consumers say they choose restaurants with specific craft beer selections.
