If you’re looking for a unique holiday gift, why not buy your loved one a chair with the seat made from a surfboard? Pretty original, huh? Morro Bay’s 1st annual Surfboard Art Festival launched in October with the unveiling of art pieces (surfboards) with names such as Storyteller, Egret, Tribe, Kelp Bed, Fisheye, Under the Sea, Dia de los Muertos, Peace Pipe Dream, The Embrace and Under the Sun. 22 surfboard works of art on display Nov. 1-29, 2014, were showcased around downtown with the boards auctioned off at a fundraising event at Fish Bonez Restaurant on Nov. 29. Limited tickets for the auction are available at morrobayinbloom.org. Cost is $50 for auction, $75 for auction & preview. If you’re in town or passing through the Central Coast, California this Thanksgiving weekend there’s a holiday street fair on Nov. 30. The Morro Bay Lighted Boat Parade takes place the following weekend on Dec. 6.
