Many have seen the Symphony Silicon Valley perform at the Free Summer Concerts at the Tower Lawn on the campus of San Jose State University. Perhaps you got tickets for their outside-the-box show, The Music of Led Zeppelin. Maybe you’ve been swept off your feet hearing the orchestra’s accompaniment to Ballet San Jose’s The Nutrcracker.  If you’re not a fan just yet, you should check out these events:

1. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 5 in A major, “The Turkish Concerto,” plus Anton Bruckner’s Symphony No. 4 in E-flat major, “Die Romantische,” Dec. 6 and 7, 2014. Star soloist violinist Mayuko Kamio returns to Symphony Silicon Valley for the third time in three years to perform the concerto Mozart wrote as a supremely gifted 19-year-old. When Maestro Shimono conducted Symphony Silicon Valley in Ein Heldenleben for his first American engagement, he became an instant audience and musician favorite. He returns to lead Bruckner’s romantic Symphony No. 4 –a big work to match his talent.

2. Carols in the California (as in California Theatre!) December 13, 2014. This Family Holiday Tradition is presented under the artistic direction of Elena Sharkova and the Symphony Silicon Valley Chorale. The traditional sing-along of favorite carols include a dazzling performance of John Rutter’s “Magnificat.”

Prices vary, tickets: (408) 286-2600 or symphonysiliconvalley.org
