Mother’s Day is just around the bend on Sunday, May 13, 2012,  and there are lots of ways you can show the wife, mother and (or) grandmother in your life how much you care for them. Conventional Mother’s Day cards, flowers and food are top hits, but sometimes mom just wants a little help with the kids.

According to National Retail Federation 2012 Mother’s Day consumer spending survey, the average person celebrating the holiday is expected to spend $152.52 on gifts, up from $140.73 last year. Total spending is expected to reach $18.6 billion.

If you need Mother’s Day ideas and ways to celebrate, check out Mother’s Day Art Festival in Sunset Beach, Calif., Mother’s Day Bluegrass Festival in Calico Ghost Town,  or Natalie’s Mother’s Day app to pair a great wine with a brunch. And there’s always the beach, mountains and great back roads to enjoy in California on a Sunday Drive. Find out what your “mother” loves best and make it a special day by giving her what she wants, if even an hour to herself to relax!
