Working hard to support the family day in and day out, mom will be more than recognized for her devotion this Mother’s Day with consumers expected to splurge in 2013, spending an average of $168.94, up 11% from 2012. Total spending is expected to reach $20.7 billion. Some plan to stretch the budget this year and treat mom to that tablet or smartphone. 14.1% – the highest in survey history – of shoppers this Mother’s Day are purchasing electronics, spending approx. $2.3 billion. 34.4% of gift givers are buying jewelry, spending a total of $4.2 billion,  up from last year’s $3.7 expenditures.
