On Tuesday, August 6, 2013, over 350 cities, towns and neighborhoods in California plan to take to the streets to celebrate National Night Out. Conceived as a way to combat crime by filling the streets with law-abiding citizens, a nonprofit organization, National Association of Town Watch, created the event and promotes it by inviting cities and towns to enroll (through sign-up process) so they can appear on the list. Sponsors such as Target have provided freebies such as hot dogs, bottled water and even kids toys at past events. In California participation appears to have grown from 2012 to 2013 with over a dozen more entities now on the roster. Here are participating cities and neighborhoods on the list for 2013.
