AUGUST 2, 2016

Mark that date! Californians are invited to spend National Night Out: Building Police and Community Partnerships to Prevent Crime. More than 360 cities and towns in California are planning to participate in the annual event which includes fascinating and fun demonstrations, hands-on activities and freebies (Target sponsors more than 1,500 Night Out celebrations nationwide often providing hot dogs, water, and other food or promotional items.)

TRUE CRIME STORY: Within minutes of a neighbor leaving for the store his home was robbed. Burglars apparently drove up and down residential streets watching for people to leave. According to statistics, break ins are usually simple; low-tech tools such as a screwdriver, pliers, pry bars, and small hammers are most commonly used to invade a home or car. Police clear only 13% of all reported burglaries due to lack of witnesses or physical evidence. National Night Out offers useful information and resources to prevent crime.
