ALAMEDA, CALIF. — As California grows, many great things have been lost or forgotten such as Neptune Beach, a seaside amusement popular in the 1920’s. The closest existing and surviving amusement in California, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, isn’t exactly what Neptune Beach once was, but it may help you understand the type of fun that existed. Alameda Chamber of Commerce seeks to rekindle the era and the fun with Neptune Beach Community Celebration, now in its third year. Concerts, vendors, a Ferris wheel, pet costume contest, car show and many activities offer a weekend of pure escape Sept. 6-7, 2014. Hope you can make it to the party!
