Pico Rivera, Calif. Honors Governor Pio Pico with Old Fashioned 4th of July

When visiting L.A. area, you might want to see Pico Rivera and  Pio Pico State Historic Park (piopico.org) in Whittier. Learn about an interesting and well known character in California history who was born at San Gabriel Mission in 1801 where he rose from poverty to make his  fortune during the California gold rush. He lost it all after the gold rush ended and lived out his days remembering better times.  The Pio Pico State Historic Park focuses on his lifetime achievements at one of Southern California’s few remaining 19th century structures made out of the massive sun-dried mud adobe bricks!
