The most famous known pirate in California was Frenchman Hippolyte de Bouchard who raided the Presidio of Monterey in 1818. Although the revolutionary has been called California’s only pirate, there are plenty of pirate adventures to be found in the Golden State and many swashbucklers running around acting the part. Next week the Victorville Pirate Fair (March 19-20, 2016) is an adventure where you’re invited to talk, dress and act like pirate. It’s just the beginning of the exciting pirate season.
