Pumping Pumpkins at Half Moon Bay Festival

HALF MOON BAY, CALIF. — Instead of pumping iron, they’re pumping pumpkins that weigh more than a ton in the annual Pumpkin Weigh-off on October 12, 2015. Anyone think superstar grower John Hawkley’s North American record 2,058-pound Goliath gourd that won last year’s Safeway World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-off will be squashed this year? After the momentous event, the Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival on Oct. 17 & 18 treats guests to all things pumpkin–pumpkin ale, pumpkin carving, pumpkin gifts and pumpkin pie eating contest. You better start working out before the BIG event!
