Surrounded by four mountain ranges, there’s a stark beauty in Ridgecrest. The Mojave Desert makes for a cool getaway on a Fall weekend, especially during the annual Ridgecrest Petroglyph Festival which takes place on Nov. 7 & 8, 2015 with new attractions and events. In addition to petroglyph tours, a street fair, pow wow, wine walk and Cherokee Hog Fry, a beer garden has been added. The Coso Rock Art District — Big and Little Petroglyph Canyons — contains over 20,000 Native American petroglyphs in this National Historic Landmark. The annual festival draws attention to the California’s rich history and unique cultures. Also on the same weekend are Pow Wows in San Diego Old Town and Heritage Park in Santa Fe Springs.
