Weekend Coming Up Roses in California

If there is one place that says “rose”, California is its name. Roses grow abundantly and thrive in our state, cities are named after them, and parades and festivals celebrate them. This weekend you can get up to speed on roses at the annual Wasco Rose Festival. If you go be sure to tour the fabulous flower fields (shown in photo.) It’s a real treat!

Where to see roses in California

  • Huntington Library’s Rose Garden is in bloom this September,  huntington.org
  • Healdburg’s Russian River Rose Company hosts “Beckoning Butterflies, Birds & Bees to the Garden” Sept. 10-11, 2016. Russian Tea and Fragrance Festival (shown in top three photos) takes place Oct.1-2, russian-river-rose.com
  • Sacramento’s Cemetery Rose Garden hosts Propagation Class September 10, and
    Fall Color Tour of the Rose Garden on November 19. cemeteryrose.org
  • Rose gardens at libraries, civic centers, museums and botanical gardens are delightfully in bloom right now. Take time to smell the roses.
