San Clemente (in Orange County near the border of San Diego County) features old world charm depicted in murals throughout town. Although this beach city has no official city art program policy, there is an abundance of public art. Murals throughout San Clemente are colorful recreations of beautiful, local scenes ranging from this historic building to the San Clemente Pier, the city’s most beloved icon.

The mural paying homage to Casino San Clemente re-creates the landmark which was built in 1937 and modeled after the Casino on Catalina Island. The mainland “casino” hosted celebrities Judy Garland, Mickey Rooney, Cesar Romero and Dorothy Lamour who all came to enjoy the big band sounds and live radio broadcasts in days gone by.

Today you can actually rent the Casino San Clemente, which is quite popular for events and weddings. The facility is now privately owned and fully restored to its former glory by the Sadeghi Family. See: thecasinosanclemente.com
