San Jose Christmas Celebrations

Christmas in the Park returns to San Jose for its 35th year!

California’s third most populated city (under Los Angeles and San Diego) with over one million residents wasn’t always so big–in 1960s there were a mere 200,000 residents. It’s really amazing that San Jose manages to retain some of its family focus and small town feel apparent during the holidays when old-fashioned celebrations return for yet another season. The week before Christmas when  kids are off school, families take a break and relatives come to visit, here are some fun things to take them to see in San Jose:

  • Free Christmas in the Park, a perennial favorite, celebrates 35 years of tradition with more than 40 musical and animated displays
  • Vasona Park (Los Gatos) Fantasy of Lights drive through lights display through Dec. 24
  • Winchester Mystery House Spirit of Christmas Tours through Dec. 28
  • Free  Historic Trolley Rides Feel it all over again on VTA’s Historic Trolley through Dec. 27, 2014
  • Winter Wonderland downtown amusement rides through Jan. 1, 2015
