Get your hankie ready because this is a heartwarming story. Michele Olivier and Anabelle Cabrera worked in dog rescues for years and saw a need to advocate for the senior community, both people and dogs. Michel and Anabelle launched Bichon Rescue of Orange County – Seniors for Seniors, targeting senior citizens as adopters and fosters for senior Bichons and other small non-shedding breeds. The animal rescue specializes in placing senior Bichons and other small non-shedding breeds (typically over 7 years of age) in the loving homes of seniors. Although much effort is focused on those little fluffs discarded in shelters, many come from families who have experienced a death or other unforeseen circumstances and find they are no longer able to care for their pet. Each dog receives veterinary care and grooming before placement in loving foster care. Mellow and well socialized, and these dogs want is the gentle care of someone who loves them. Each adoption is a triumph that brings joy to the volunteers working tirelessly to find homes for unwanted, older pets. See bichonrescueoc.org
