California Dream Home

I come from a family of Realtors and Real Estate lovers. Sometimes I have to go into houses for sale when I don’t want to–especially when the home overlooks the Pacific Ocean. I have always dreamed of hearing the crashing waves and waking up to see the Pacific rather than my neighbor’s monster truck parked in front of my house. Pictured is a home in Newport Beach, one of California’s most expensive cities to live in. This ocean view house isn’t for sale, but the asking price on a home on the same side of the street is $30 million with a monthly mortgage of $110,831.  How much must you must earn to pay the mortgage on your California dream home?

MOST EXPENSIVE

  • PALO ALTO: Average home price $2,235,000; must earn $442,000 annually to pay $10,678 monthly mortgage
  • BEVERLY HILLS: Average home price $2.2 million; must earn $435,000 per year to pay $10,511 monthly mortgage
  • MANHATTAN BEACH: Average home price $1,700,000; must earn $336,000 yearly to pay $8,122 monthly mortgage
  • NEWPORT BEACH: Average home price $1,367,250; must earn $270,000 per year to pay $6,532 monthly mortgage

LEAST EXPENSIVE
